Terms of Service

Last updated: March 14, 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using UCP Registry ("the Service"), operated by PactMode, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

UCP Registry is a canonical registry of entities in the Universal Commerce Protocol ecosystem, including merchants, plugins, tools, extensions, vendors, and platforms. The Service provides:

  • A public directory of UCP-enabled entities with verification status, capabilities, and performance data
  • Permanent registry IDs for ecosystem entities (e.g., UCP-M-000001)
  • A public REST API for querying registry data
  • Embeddable verification badges and status widgets
  • Listing submission and claim forms
  • Programmatic pages for capabilities, transports, platforms, and entity relationships

3. API Usage

The UCP Registry API is publicly available and rate-limited to 100 requests per day per IP address. No API key or authentication is required for public endpoints. By using the API, you agree to:

  • Respect rate limits and not attempt to circumvent them
  • Not use automated tools to scrape data beyond what the API provides
  • Attribute UCP Registry when displaying registry data publicly
  • Not misrepresent API data or verification status

Excessive or abusive API usage will result in temporary or permanent IP blocks. A 429 response with a Retry-After header indicates you have been rate-limited.

4. Data Accuracy

Registry data is collected through automated crawling and runtime verification. While we strive for accuracy through daily sync cycles and continuous monitoring, we cannot guarantee that data reflects real-time status. Verification timestamps and check frequencies are provided to help you assess data freshness. Use registry data at your own discretion.

5. Registry IDs

Registry IDs (e.g., UCP-M-000001, UCP-PL-000002) are permanent identifiers assigned by the registry. Once assigned, IDs are never reused or reassigned to different entities. Registry IDs are public data intended for stable referencing across the ecosystem.

6. Submissions and Claims

You may submit new listings or claim existing listings through the provided forms. By submitting, you represent that:

  • The information you provide is accurate to the best of your knowledge
  • You have authority to submit or claim the entity in question
  • You understand that submissions are subject to review and verification

We reserve the right to reject, modify, or remove any submission at our discretion.

7. Badges and Widgets

Embeddable badges and widgets are provided for use on your own websites to display UCP verification status. You may not modify badge content to misrepresent verification status. We reserve the right to modify badge designs or discontinue the badge service.

8. Intellectual Property

The UCP Registry name, logo, website design, and codebase are proprietary to PactMode. The underlying entity data (domains, endpoints, capabilities, response times) is factual information derived from publicly accessible endpoints and is not subject to copyright. Registry IDs and the registry structure are part of our service.

9. Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. PactMode shall not be liable for any damages arising from your use of the Service, reliance on registry data, or inability to access the Service.

10. Modifications

We may modify these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. Material changes will be noted by updating the "Last updated" date.
